We complete storage and racking inspections for new and existing customers on a quarterly, semi-annual or annual basis. This storage and racking inspection and racking certification is inclusive of a site visit completed by one of Space Aid's certified rack inspectors. After the visit, the customer will receive a subsequent report detailing the findings, along with any recommendations the rack inspector might have.
The racking inspection and racking certification report includes a comprehensive summary, checklist, images, and a layout drawing with specific recommendations to address any damage the inspector may have noticed, and to improve safety.

An inspection is the first step towards obtaining proper racking certification of any warehouse storage system. A Space Aid certified Inspector will complete an initial inspection to determine the style and layout of racking system and to collect data on the configuration and components specific to the system as well as determine if any damage or deficiencies exist. A preliminary inspection report is provided along with a quotation to bring the system into compliance. Space Aid will also provide recommendations to reduce damage as well as suggest the frequency of future inspections on a quarterly, semi-annual or annual basis. Based on the requirements of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, compliance of any storage system can include a Pre-Start Health & Safety Review, or a PSR Exemption Letter provided by the manufacturer at the time of original purchase, or a System Certification with Engineer Stamped Drawings. A PSR is a required written report completed by a licensed engineer on the construction, addition or installation of a new apparatus, structure, protective element or process, or modifications to an existing apparatus, structure, protective element or process.
Once all deficiencies are addressed based on the inspection report the system is then eligible for certification. Space Aid provides certification through engineer stamped drawings for any type of existing racking system. These drawings include specific details for the layout of the system, design and specification of each component, details for each unique elevation or configuration, installation requirements and an assigned load capacity. Finally, signage is provided with large end of aisle mounted data capacity plaques that accurately detail the capacity of the system.
We have worked with many customers that have had orders to comply issued by the Ministry of Labour and with our systematic program of inspections, services and engineering support we were able to bring their existing systems into compliance. An inspection is the first step towards obtaining proper racking certification of the system. During the site visit, all system details are compiled including the requirements for service and repair along with the details for engineering analysis. Once all repairs are completed, a finite element analysis specific to the customer’s brand and system design is completed to determine an accurate load rating for each elevation. Once the engineered stamped drawings are completed, proper signage is provided to ensure operators are aware of the system loading criteria. This is done with data capacity plaques mounted in highly visible locations throughout the system.
